Moving to Bulgaria

Hi All,

I am from Bulgaria but have lived in America since 2009.  My husband and I are considering moving to Bulgaria to reunite with my family, but we are so concerned about jobs. We will be living in Varna. I am just wondering what was your experience when you were moving to Bulgaria. Was it hard to get a job? Did you find a job before you moved or was it easier once you got there? We dont have any special skills like IT, marketing, software developers, etc. and I feel like most job offers suited for english speaking people are in that area, and of course, the call centers.

I currently work in an Abstrat and Title company and my husband is working for a General Contractor.

Please let me know if you think we will be struggling with finding a good job, if we decide to move to Bulgaria.

There is plenty of construction work, so that should be good for your husband. Although it will be much easier if he can speak Bulgarian.

Without specialist skills you mention, I think the most likely alternatives are call centers (as you mentioned) and teaching English.

Internet is excellent here in Bulgaria (my tiny village has fiber optic 50mbps for 20 leva per month), so doing some kind of location-independent, internet-based biz (including teaching English to Chinese children) is very feasible.

Thank you for your reply.

Do you know what do most english speaking people work in Bulgaria?

Also, I just found out that we also have to pay income taxes to the USA as they tax in global income.  Big disappointment as now we have to think about that expense as well. And if we have someone file our taxes, that's another expense.
