Easter in Malta

Hi,

I'll be travelling to Malta next week and will do a lot of filming with my new camera... so can anyone tell me where and when exactly on Good Friday and Easter Sunday the most "impressive"(means historical clothing for example) processions can be seen?

Hi,

The most widely recommended Good Friday processions are in Valletta and Zebbug but there are processions in many other towns and villages.

The event in Zebbug starts at 3pm with Holy Liturgy and at 4.30 pm with a visual representation of the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.

At 5 pm there is a parade of Roman soldiers and Biblical  personalities. These are also part of the procession from 5.30 pm onwards with Good Friday statues re-enacting the Passion of Christ our Lord.

The timetable in Valletta will be similar with the procession starting in the late afternoon. This procession is also very popular and easily accessible.

There are also Easter Sunday processions.Check out the local newspapers for the exact times.
