I`ve read about private rental ads being posted on Facebook, the Times of Malta online,
MaltaPark etc.

In what physical locations are ads also being placed by private landlords?

I know asking around the local area (cafe etc.) may be an option, but if you`re new to the island you have no network, and therefore, no established trust.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

It's Facebook and Maltapark ... or asking around. Not only locals but also foreigners who are leaving

Students can find ads for rooms or small flats on black boards at UM, sometimes you can find paper-ads on lighting poles or stone-walls.
