My name is James, from Kenyan and planning on settling for a job opportunity in Addis Ababa. I would like to know some few things about the City:
1. What are the requirements for opening a local bank account
2. Are there ways of sending money abroad? e.g. money transfer service, or, use of credit card abroad.

hello Jimkar,
1.) You must bring either your green/yellow card or passport to open an ethiopian bank account .
2.) Yes they have western union, moneygram and lots of money transfer services.

As mercy314 mention you must bring a green/yellow card to open an account but you only send money(i.e your proven salary/dividend) by SWIFT not by western union or other money transferring agency.

Yes I'm sorry I misunderstood the question, I've never tried sending money from Ethiopia, I have only received.
