I am new here as I want to get as much information about Joburg!
Have an offer to come down but have some concerns regarding the usual safety topic!
Further more - is it good to party in the night in Joburg!

Yeah its great to party at night in Joburg. You'll find great night clubs in Sandton, Fourways, Rosebank, and even in Town. Google Johannesburg night life and you will find some useful info.
The safety issue is pretty straight forward, you are as safe as your actions. That means don't go walking around at night (alone or in a group) lock your doors, make friends with your neighbors, they will look out for you, so long as you treat them, well, neighborly... Also keep all emergency numbers at hand, know where the nearest police station is, hospital, clinic, etc.
Just keep your wits about you.
