Hi there & thanks for the Welcome! Came to SA in 1992 cos of the property crash then in UK (looong story) and am staying (living) close to Fourways Mall / Montecasino. See you've both been around the block a bit & Jo Ann even in SA! - Where? Why? Found ExPats searching for info on Reunion Island - maybe my next port of call?
Quite like the idea of having a blog as living in Africa has daily John Cleese moments 
Just how obscure does an acceptable blog name have to be?

Hey Merlina, I was in Sandton, Morningside.
I went to South Africa because my father was living there with two of my brothers at the time, and my mother sent me from Portugal to SA as a punishment (teen crisis, failed my 10th grade miserably, etc...).
I went to the French school in Morningside.
Can't believe it's been 10 years already !
But from punishment, it became something more. And the three years I spent in SA were the best of my teen years for sure ! :-)
