Hi,
I will be moving to sohar in 3 months as specialist pediatrician. What are the prospects of daytime only 4-5 hours work for wife (pediatrician). We want to have quality time with kids and ourselves. I will be working 9-1 and 5-9. Kids 3 and 4 years each have to be taken care of and we don't want to end up both working full time and losing our quality of life. Any suggestions? Also want details about child care available and cost.

Hi ilamaran,

All expatriate jobs in Oman must necessarily be approved by the Ministry of Manpower and the Ministry of Labour. And no expat can be hired until and unless the company has the required job clearance for that specific job category / designation.

In your wife's case, if any hospital has a clearance for a paediatrician, then they can technically appoint her. But whether they will at your terms is something which only the employer can decide.
