I arrive at roughly 10am on Tuesday morning.I was just wondering if any locals to the San Gwann,Swieqi and St Julians area have any shops they suggest getting general groceries from ?

Any other tips about the area ? Sports bars etc ?

I'll focus on San Gwann: Lidl, Maypole, both near the centre. Maypole's opening hours are from 7 am to 9 pm, every day. There are also a few shops open until 10 pm or even later. One of them is "Aroma" close to Maypole and there are two shops run by Libyans on San Gwann's main street leading to St Julian's, close to the Kuncizzjoni bus stop. Bought some milk there yesterday at around 11 pm.

There's an Egyptian take-away in the vicinity. It's called "NIDA" and I think their falafel is really good, although in my experience usually not available before 6 pm.
