Al Hofuf Al Hasa

For anyone thinking of moving to Hofuf / Al Hasa now, it is important to know that there have been at least two incidents of expats being shot at there and the US State Department warns its citizens to avoid the area.  Go to state. gov and you could read the travel advisories for Saudi Arabia.

Otherwise, the city is known as having the best dates in Saudi Arabia.  There is a certain streetside where locals will sell you many different types of dates; there is so much to learn about the different varieties of dates and which are the best.

Dear law12,

In response to your post about the expats being shot at in Hofuf/Al Hasa, could you tell me where you got this information. I am currently in Dammam and will be moving to Al Mubarraz, possibly on Wednesday/Thursday. I have checked the site you recommended and the last updated advice given there, was in July of 2014. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place!!

Kind Regards

Carl

Hey dear.
I am also living in al ahsa/al hufoof since 3 years and working in well known international school. I worked riyadh but I really like al ahsa.it is ideal place for family and beach is around 100km far away and not to much crowded and all facilities are here.Good schools, parks, malls and everything is here just like big cities. Peoples are well educated and having good manners.I love to live here.

I am an asst professor in King faisal university. I am a female and I need the pick up, drop off service for going to campus, supermarket, shopping mall, sometimes clinic also. I am coming to Hofuf in coming July. Can anyone give any contact of any driver/pick up service provider?

Also please advise how safe is taking such ride with non-relative males in Saudi? I heard, it is technically forbidden, though unenforced, to take ride from unknown males..  :gloria

1)There is one International school accredited from Advanced body. This school is running one of the largest education company MAARIF.For further inquiries you can go through website www.maarif.com.sa
School name is MANARAT AL AHSA INTERNATIONAL.
The school follow from lower grade to grade 6 American Curriculum and then from 7 upto IGSCE. I am currently working   at same school.
Another school name is NADA and it has good reputation.
2) Life is very safe and lovely peoples.NGHA is almost no go area for those do not belong to NGHA,so don't worry about security and services.
3) There are supermarkets and everything available

Is Careem in your area??? Can get expensive, but cars are clean, drivers speak English, &  they use GPS (at least in Jeddah).
