So my wife and I are right in the middle of filing for the QRP and we are having trouble with the proof of income part. They won't except anything for income for life except a pension, annuity or social security. We have none of those but we have heard there are ways around it but I wanted to hear specifically what you all have done for proof of income for life.

Thanks
Jay

My guess is the administrators of QRP are really wanting you to have a source of income that is NOT under your direct control like a bank account/401K/stocks/rental income/etc. One could have large amounts in an account they control one day, and zero the next.

They are trying to assure that you don't become dependent on the government.  (I sure wish the USA would take that course)

Search for  posts in this forum addressing this issue, but be careful as some are old and things have changed.

This document from the Belize Tourism Board dated 2016 has slightly different wording:

A nice summery but copyright 2010:

Search for more attornies, I do not have any idea how reputable or effective these folks are, but if i were looking to join the QRP program I would seek legal help.

Considering what an attorney would want and the fact that we are one step away from finishing the paperwork we were hoping to find an answer from someone on the forum. I remember reading some where on here of folks dealing with the same problem as ours and they were able to resolve it in different ways. We chose to go with a 401k but they wont except that so we are at a stalemate. Any help would be appreciated.

I can't answer your question specifically, but I can tell you that in general, legal assistance in Belize is not that expensive. It would be wise to consult on attorney on anything involving the GOB and money. You can PM me and I can give you the name of my attorney in Belize, or you can ask others here for the same recommendation. This is a big commitment on your part, and you want to ensure your money is safe, but available.
