Public transport and monthly savings

I got an offer of 1100 OMR including all perks (I hv to take care myself for house and transportation). Till nw i don't know which place of oman i will get my posting, but I want to know about public transport. "Is public transport sufficiently available in all part of oman."
By reading previous threads, I think in muscat one can save upto 600 OMR if not living with family, while in other part of oman saving may b upto 750 to 800 OMR. Plz clear me if i m wrong.
