New to Indonesia

My name is Patrick , I am 63 years old  and I am a Plumber  I live in WA at the moment.

I am a Newbie on the Indonesia forum? Dont know how to start?
At the moment I am living on my own with my dog Boris and
I want to come and  live in Bali, what do I have to do. .??
What visas do I need and how often do I have to come back to Australia
Is there any where I can stay rather than a hotel.
Where is the expat community usually based.
I am not thinking of working Just semi retirement if possible
