Speaking Romanian in Moldova

This is an example of a canned statement that is not entirely correct.  Russian is also widely known and used in Moldova, and depending on the area Russian is more useful.  Also, many prefer to refer to the national language as Moldovan instead of Romanian.  However in 2013, it was ruled that the national language should be (and rightfully so) called Romanian.
