Hello everyone,

Old clichés die hard, as the saying goes... and living in Guinea Conakry can generate lots of misconceptions in the eyes of the people.

What are the most common misconceptions about the expat lifestyle in Guinea Conakry?

What are the most common clichés about life in Guinea Conakry in general?

Did you have a biased view of the country before moving there? What is you view now?

Thanks in advance,

Priscilla

Hello Priscilla

the topic is interesting but a little bit too general

For exemple miscoceptions about expat lifestyle are not so easy to classify becuase heare in Guinea theare expat from Europe, Africa, Middle East and every groups has a different lifestyle.
Do you refer to west expat lifestyle?

Kankan, High Guinea, where I work is better than my expectations. Here people are very friendly and it is quite easy to have guinean friends. There is a very low criminal rate so there are less problem in meeting people

Kankan is a rural city very traditional so, in general, is better to follow traditional rule. the situation change if you talk with well educated people or people who lived in Conakry. in this case, there are more open minded
