Hello everyone,

Moving abroad requires adequate insurance coverage.

What type of insurance expatriates need the most in the United Arab Emirates: health, house or liability insurance? All of them? Do they come as a package?

Are there other insurance options to consider like critical illness, damage or property insurance?

Is it better to purchase insurance from an expat insurance specialist or from a local insurance provider?

And what about insurance costs?

Tell us about your experience in the United Arab Emirates.

Thanks!

Hi there! let me split answer as below,

1) Health medical coverage : One need to have adequate heath coverage in UAE. Generally it is taken care by Employer as part of Employment offer. This medical covers normal illness and few critical illness up to certain limit. There are wide range of medical insurance/cover options available in UAE. How much more premium Employer pays, more advantages employee gets.

2) Car Insurance : It is mandatory. Depends on value of car and it is annually charged. insurance premium also depends on services included like agency repair, road side assistance, third party liability, GCC coverage etc. So one has choose by comparing different policies.

3) House insurance : Not mandatory but good to have one. Insurance provider are there.

4) Critical illness : Separate critical illness plans are available in UAE which covers certain illness up to certain limits.

Regards.

It's better you send me what's up because I am waiting for my meeting schedule for joining the insurance company, by then I can advise u of what best insurance for coming to visit UAE. But health insurance is very important in this country anything can happen to your health.  You can use it in any hospital.

There are a lot of insurance products available in the market each of those portfolios has its pros and cons. If you are an expat working in UAE since this is a tax-free country we don't really have a force-able kind of savings that goes in to our retirement which is why a Insurance Policy that can be withdrawn at a certain period would really be a good value for expatriate that when they plan to go back home for good. They would have something that can be use to start a business or buy a house etc.

Medical Insurance is mandatory in UAE so you need to ask your employer regarding this matter.

Most cars will have an insurance along with it if you purchase a brand new one.

Health Insurance for Employee is now mandatory and provided for by the Employer.  Likewise the Insurance is compulsory for residents on anybody's sponsorship (e.g. family).  It is the sponsor's responsibility to obtain Health Insurance, otherwise Residence Permit for dependents will not be issued.  Other insurance like property etc are optional.
