Looking on moving to Recife

I am looking on moving to Recife in the future and opening a International Consulting Business.  I am needing a place to live and a driver.  I will also need a Translator, Writer and Graphic Artist.  Any Advice will be welcome.  Also, where are the Best Restaurants in Recife?

Hello Dan,

On behalf of the entire Expat-blog Team, welcome on board. I hope that your experience here will be both enjoyable and informative. I'm sure you'll make lot of new friends too.

If you have a valid US Driver's Licence that is still valid for one more full year you can apply for an International Driver's Permit (IDP) or an Inter-Americas Driver's Permit (IADP) at you local AAA office. Either of those will allow you to drive in Brazil for a period of 180 days, following that you will have to obtain a Brazilian Driver's Licence (Carteira Nacional de Habilitação) which involves driving school, practical test, physical, vision and psychological exams and a road test.

If you really need a driver with a car then you could try a Google search for "motorista particular com carro em Recife" it should come back with a few options.

If you don't need legal translations then don't use the services of a Notarized Translator (tradutor juramentado) they are notoriously expensive and if you need frequent translations they will drive you into the poorhouse.

I've been here in Brazil for over eleven years now and the translations that I've seen are just pathetic. I do translations of all kinds of documents and texts as I'm completely fluent in both English and Portuguese, in fact, I teach Portuguese to other English speaking foreigners. If you wish I will send you a private message with my personal e-mail address and you can send translations to me via e-mail, I will look them over and give you an estimate by e-mail. Once you confirm I will then translate your document/text and send it back by e-mail. My prices are reasonable and the translation will be accurate.

What exactly is it that you need written and will it be in English or  in Portuguese? Perhaps we could work something out there as well. That's the kind of work you really don't need somebody on-site to do.

Since I don't live in Recife I can't help you with the rest of your inquiries, but I'm sure one of our members there will eventually give you a reply.

International consulting Business in Recife... Did you do market research?

Hello,

Not yet what type of law do you practice.  I am just starting the beginning stages of this journey.  Do You have any advice for Me?

Gratefully,

Dan

All I wanted to say was that Recife, although a beautiful city, might not be the best place to start an international consulting firm.
