You can transfer money to India - even without having a local bank account !

These money exchanges are meant mostly to aid expatriates transfer money back home - to India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Indonesia, Europe and U.S.A., besides any other country in the world.

You have to provide a bank account number where the money would have to get credited. There are also other facilities like door delivery of cash, a beneficiary going to the bank and collecting cash by quoting a secret PIN, etc. Options vary from place to place and from bank to bank.
