Certification of anulment for a foreign divorce

In 1997 I was married to a Filipino national and then got a divorce in the USA after 2 years. I am now engaged to marry another Filipino and read somewhere online that I will need to get a "Certification of Nullity" before I can get married in the Philippines again. Since I got a valid divorce in the United States, as a foreigner, do I need to get the Certification of Nullity? Also, how do I go about doing it?

Hi pavelow360,

I suggest you to go through the Formalities and procedures in the Philippines forum, where you may find out more information about the procedures.

Thank you,

David.

authenticate your certificate in the embassy of your country :)

no all you need is the  capacity to marry from Embassy show your divorce papers at Embassy, the  Supreme Court of the Philippines has ruled that a divorce by a foreigner in his  country is  recognized in the  Philippines, his wife  would  have  to go before the court to remarry

your certificate of nullity still needs to be authenticated.

you do not  need it only the divorce decree, contact he  American Embassy Manila
