Hi to all the English speakers in moscow....

Am considering going for a governess job in moscow.... How does everyone find it?? Is it difficult making friends?
Would love any advice!

Dear Considering-Moscow,

There are quite a few large groups of English-speakers in Moscow, but it's not always easy to
find them.
I'm working as a governess at the moment, and the problem you have in this kind of job is that
you don't have any colleagues to hang out with.
I'm lucky that when I first came to Russia I came as an English teacher, working for a very big
language school, so my group of friends was built up before I started as governess.

I think your best bet for making friends is a website like this one.
If you have a look at the Expat Meet-up page you'll see those guys meet pretty regularly and they're always keen on new members.

Hope that helped!

Reigh

Thanks, I guess I should just go for it!!

You won't regret it!  This place is awesome!
And once you've got a group of friends going, you'll find yourself meeting more and more other friends.

Hi, what is Governess? And yea, definetly come to Moscow, Its really nice, aside from the weather :P But you get used to it :D

I have been in the Moscow area since the end of July and can't say I'm loving it. I go off on the weekends, but the private school I work is very different from what I am use to - in terms of behavior, attitude and lack of adult control. I would love to meet people to make the remainder of my year here more enjoyable.

Hi people! Have decided I will go for it, will start interviewing soon and then move to Moscow in June. Hopefully when the suns out might be a good time to make friends!?

Hey Considering-Moscow!
I reckon it'll be a great time:  lots of people hang out outdoors, there's more socialising and of course people are more keen to meet up since they don't have to spend 20 minutes getting dressed to go outside!

awesome, another britt :D lol

Hello. I am sure you will enjoy Russia. Sightseeing in the centre of Moscow is incredible. However, traffic is not so good, be ready for really long traffic jams and lots of people everywhere

Every city has its own vibe and sure Moscow too has its own. Basically, you can find lot of fun things to do but also you will miss some. Just go with the flow and for sure you will enjoy your days here.

Thanks! Looking forward to exploring.... A little worried about the language barrier and also making like minded friends! Will give it a go anyway! :)

To find like minded friends, it will be hard. But you can find easy going friends ;)

How does Saturday sound to everyone?

Radio City Bar has been suggested to me?

Address: ул. Большая Садовая, 5, г-ца Пекин, Moscow, 12300
