Ecuador Tour & Rental Search Request

I'm pleased to have joined this web site!:)

I'm a semi-retired teacher whose home is Vancouver, Canada. Each year I would like to spend several months in Ecuador and perhaps even purchase a second home there after renting for a while in a location that meets my requirements.

Do you know of a tour that would permit me to explore some of the following locations? Vilcabamba, Cuenca, Canoa & Bahia?

My next travel dates in Ecuador can be the following: arrival, Dec. 27, 2012; depart January 15, 2013

For the tour, I require accommodations for one person only with private bath and WiFi access.

I prefer not to drive myself but to go with a tour or shuttle service with tour guide (my Spanish is very limited).

My tour budget is in the U.S. $100 per diem range excluding airfare to and from Ecuador, food, drinks and gratuities, but including ground transportation, guided tour, local accommodations. Total for 19 days would be about $1900.

When renting longer term for future annual visits, I require the following:

-at least one bedroom suite or cabaña (casita) that is in a safe, quiet and clean location, preferably somewhat remote and PRIVATE.

-fully furnished with normal size refrigerator and full kitchen

-must have good, reliable WifFi access from within the selected accommodation (not just somewhere else on the property)

-hot water in bathroom and preferably in kitchen as well

-within 15 minute walking distance to restaurants, grocery store, etc. (If further away from shopping, I would need to inquire about renting a scooter.)

-not far from a clean shore by lake or ocean where one can safely swim without dangerous rip tides or big surf; or within a reasonable distance of a larger (20 meters) swimming pool where one can do lap swims (a requirement for my health)

My budget for monthly rental would be about U.S. $1000. a month that includes taxes. Utilities costs can be added if necessary.

I look forward to any information you can provide. Muchas gracias!

My travel dates for touring Ecuador are flexible. I could do this also for about a 3 week period in February, 2013 instead of Dec. 2012 - Jan, 2013.

Hello VancouverGuy. :)

You have a quite similar post on the Ecuador forum : https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=201084

Concerning the long term lease, I suggest you to post an advert in the Housing in Ecuador section. It could help.

Thank you,
Aurélie
