How to retire in Cyprus ?

Hello

I am living in the UK

I want to live abroad mainly due to health issues, I live in Wales, I need a warmer climate.

I am 63 and have come through a battle with cancer during lockdown.

I have a different outlook on life now, I love the outdoor and nature.

I read somewhere that if someone is 60 and over they can move and stay in Northern Cyprus without applying for a visa.

I would be very grateful for any help and advice, I want to buy a small property in the North for myself and retire there.

Is this possible?

I am a complete novice at all of this, thank you in advance

Caz

Sorry to disappoint .. but you can only stay for 90.days in a rolling 180 days .. you must get residency to stay for longer and or permanently. Usual residency permit granted for one year and renewable each year... Over 60s can be issued with a 2 year permit renewable .

All foreigners who wish to stay in the TRNC for more than 90 days, are required to obtain a residence permit. Entry to and departure from the TRNC is possible through designated ports and border crossings with a valid passport or travel document.

But saying all that... it's not difficult to get the residency permits.... If this is what you want to do go for it .. but take some advice and get a immigration assistant/"fixer" to help you obtain the permit .. yes there is a cost but it's worth it to keep the stress anxiety and frustration levels in check.

Good luck and enjoy your well earned retirement

This link will give you the visa and residency requirements for entering and staying in the TRNC

@Toon Good Morning

Thank you for your great advice. It doesn't seem that difficult to be able to get the residency permit.

Yes I shall get the help i need with a fixer.

You have a lovely day.

Thanks again

@carlove54 no worries Caz . I am currently trying to get the site admin team to create a forum dedicated to the TRNC Northern Cyprus so as to get more specific and targeted questions answers to and from people who actually live there...... as the current Cyprus forum seems to be more geared to South Cyprus.. That's not deliberate I think as Cyprus Is Cyprus all of it .. but sadly very much divided politically...... Different in many respects but the same in many others .and I don't mean that disrespectfully.. I have visited the north side several times and enjoyed each and every visit ...

Yes I know its all Cyprus whether Turkish or Greek our hosts are all Cypriots and Id hope to see it as one in the future ....

Let's hope so .....

Hello Toon

Yes it would be helpful if the forum did have more information dedicated to Northern Cyprus.

Buying property in the North does seem more complicated and buyers have to be aware of property deeds problems.

My sister moved to Spain 7 years ago.

Several of the properties she was interested in buying were illegal builds.

But she had an independent solicitor who was very diligent and all was well.

I am so pleased I joined this forum, it is very helpful and informative, enjoy your day, and take care

My friend is buying over there as we speak but it has taken over 6 months so far .. he's hoping to complete this week or next ...
