Hi,
I am a Filipino woman (in a relationship with an Iranian man, soon to be married) and currently living in Abhar. We have a place in Tehran, but due to Tehran's daily traffic and pollution problem, we decided to stay outside the capital and be somewhere a little quieter. We do go to Tehran every now and then for family and doctor's appointments but very rare.
I am hoping to find folks around here to socialize and possibly expand my inner circle. Ngl, I'm currently having expat loneliness, which is another reason as to why I'm reaching out atm. (I don't have aversion to locals, but it's very difficult to make friends with my current situation due to language barrier, since I don't speak Persian, Arabic or Turkish which is something I noticed is prominent in this area.) I enrolled to study Persian language at IKIU but I'm still waiting for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or something to approve my application, so it would take me some time to learn. I do however, would like to start the socializing by potentially meeting/hanging out with people or just by starting with something simple - voice calls on social media or messaging platforms (like Discord or Telegram.) Obviously, I would prefer someone nearby but anybody else who wants to make a new friend is always welcome.
Due to the country's customs and having traditional family members on his side of the family, I would prefer hanging out/going to places with women. I suppose talking with men is also okay, but I don't want to upset his parents by hanging out alone with men; hence the preference. Probably any couple to hang out with would be cool too, like dinner dates or double-dates or something (if its okay for my significant other to tag along when he's available.) Speaking and understanding English more than conversation pleasantries would be great too.
Thanks
Hello Goldengatevixen,
Welcome on board !
I hope that members will soon reach out. Handling expat loneliness is sure very delicate.
Try to focus on doing this you enjoy.
All the very best,

Thanks for reaching out!
Yes, it is a missed opportunity that we decided to live outside the capital. It would've been more fun if I got to hang out with people more often since I figured most expats would want to live in Tehran.
While I do appreciate the offer of communicating via Whatsapp, unfortunately I only have a Discord and Telegram account at my disposal. If ever you would like to give it a try, let me know and I'll share my details via DM.
