Is 15,000 yuan enough in Hangzhou

I was offered a teaching job the hours seem okay (no weekends) so that's a bonus. I also don't have any real experience but I do have a degree from a top uk uni in an unrelated subject. I don't even have a tefl technically so I'm tempted to accept this job just for the experience and after a year find a higher paying job so I can save more money for later. But will my quality of life be bad on just 15k a month

Hello Liam124,

Welcome to Expat.com 1f601.svg

Please note that your thread is now on the Hangzhou forum.

Did you check if the offer was from a legal company? Usually, for a teaching job, a TEFL is required if I'm not mistaken.

You should also check for the salary range for a such job to have an idea.

Hopefully, the people on this forum will shed some light on this.

Best of luck,

Cheryl

hi Cheryl I can't verify if it's a legit company but the recruiter I spoke to has given me a tefl course to complete and a contact. Im wondering if there's someone who I can pm to verify some details about this company

Hi, Liam,

15k is not much but if you aim to pay all the bills without regular savings, you'll be surviving well.
