About the candidate
Key Duties:
- Hand-pick ripe fruits (e.g., apples, berries, grapes, citrus) from trees, vines, or bushes.
- Sort and pack produce according to quality standards.
- Operate basic farm tools or machinery (e.g., pruning shears, crates, conveyors).
- Maintain cleanliness and follow safety protocols on the farm.
- Work in outdoor conditions — early mornings, long hours, and sometimes in varying weather.
Typical Work Settings:
- Orchards, vineyards, berry farms, greenhouses, and open fields.
- Often part of a team with workers from different countries.
Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to work long hours outdoors
- Attention to detail in sorting and handling produce
- Basic knowledge of farm safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a team
- Experience with poultry and pig farming (optional but impressive)
- Familiarity with farm tools and machinery (e.g., pruning shears, crates)
Diplomas
High school certificate (KCSE)
