Aside from easily accessible weekday activities in Oslo, the city offers seasonal activities to suit every preference. Some of the activities are better suited for adults, while others are family-friendly or perfect for a romantic couple. Whichever you decide on, these activities will help you explore the fantastic city of Oslo.

Family-friendly activities in Oslo

The Norwegian culture places a high value on children and the importance of creating a safe and dynamic environment for all kids. In addition to scheduled events for children that take place throughout the year, there are also some places that are open year-round.

Here are some fun family activities in and around Oslo:

  • Oslo Summer Park: A massive climbing park located 30 minutes from the city centre. There are 12 climbing trails, and guests are welcome to bring their own food for a picnic.
  • TusenFryd Amusement Park: Norway's most impressive amusement park offers fun for the whole family. In the summertime, there is even a water park with a waterslide.
  • Leo's Lekeland: This indoor playground provides endless hours of entertainment to kids of all ages with extended trading hours of 10 am-8 pm every day of the week.
  • Tøyenbadet: An indoor complex with swimming pools, diving towers, and a waterslide is the perfect place to get some exercise while having fun.

Whether you are alone, with friends, or enjoying a day out with your partner, Oslo offers many activities that are suitable for all adults.

The best way to meet friends or indulge in a hobby is to join a club or association. There are groups available for everything from yoga and health to biking, enjoying music, and playing board games. Festivals in Oslo

Oslo is an international city and suitably offers a range of renowned festivals and events for everyone to enjoy. Many events are held annually; there is everything from summertime music festivals to Christmas markets and even a medieval festival.

Oslo events you can't miss:

  • Oslo Jazz Festival: a celebration of jazz music, usually held in early August
  • Øya Festival: Enjoy the last long days of summer before autumn arrives at this huge music event. Remember to get your tickets early since they always sell out fast!
  • Mela: Another favourite festival that takes place in August.
  • Oslo Chamber Music Festival (Oslo Kammermusikkfestival): Enjoy classical music performed by local and renowned international artists.
  • Christmas markets and Oslo's annual Christmas Fair: Dreaming of a white Christmas? Spend the holidays at home and enjoy the many Christmas markets and fairs that pop up around town.
  • Oslo Medieval Festival: A celebration of all things medieval complete with costumes, food stalls, and live performances.
  • Tjuvholmen Foodie Festival: Cooking classes, dining deals, and international flavours are the stars of the show at the annual Tjuvholmen Foodie Festival.
