Inflation for expats in Turkey

cdw057

Of course for residents inflation could be horrible (not for all I have to say).

For expats however (for me) I do not notice too much, OK I converted some EUR to early (cost me quite a bit), but overall cost of living did (for us) not increase (even decreased as far as I can see).

Announcements of increase in elecrticity, cigarettes, alcohol, .... Measured in EUR no difference.

However restaurants (also in EUR) tend to be much more expensive, as we came in a cheap restaurant it was EUR 20, now it is close to 30 (still good), in the more luxury restaurants we count EUR 50 (for 2 of us (one gin-tonic, tomato soup, good main dish, 4 (!!) fresh orange juice and tea (mandatory in my view) Independent service is mostly excellent (inclusive starter with bread (my wife appreciates))

Good for me and my wife no financial worries (at this time),

Here in the UK food prices have doubled in a little over a year.

Perhaps a bad example, but if I want to buy a small frozen lobster 🦞 it used to be £5, now it's £12

My small mortgage has risen from £161 to just under £500 a month in 18 months.  I dont think anything Turkey can throw at me will be too expensive.

The UK economy is in freefall which is why its my time to leave.
