Using Direct Express Mastercard for US Social Security payments in UA

This seems to be the best method of receiving monthly SSA benefits.  I realize that bankomats in Ukraine will low me to withdraw gryvna for a fee (?).  What are your experiences using this card for everyday purchases?   Also, once a joint account is opened in Ukraine, am I able to deposit funds from the Card to our bank account?
