I don't know if you've read this, or know about the racial profiling that some schools practice, but you should.

It's been a few years since the article was written, but I doubt things have changed much.

Since SEMEO hired you, maybe CEFALT would too?

There are ebbs and flows in the amount of hours available throughout the year; these are based on the holidays.  You've arrived at the time when it's hard to find work, since it's the end of the school year.  Around mid-June things will pick up a little.

Good luck.

HCMC is the place in Vietnam with the most ESL schools, so your odds are substantially better here.  You might get lucky somewhere else though.

I don't know what your qualifications are, but you should have at least a CELTA or a Trinty TESOL.  If I were in your position I would pursue, and obtain, as many degrees and certificates as possible.  It makes you more marketable and makes any possible racial profiling even more absurd.

The British Counsel has bee running ads online.  I don't think they would discriminate against you.

You'd need to be a top notch teacher to land that post, because for this salary I imagine the competition is fierce.

Salary: 2,849 to 3,614 USD gross per month

Personally, I wouldn't work there even if they would hire me(they won't).  I know a few of their teachers, and they are snobbish and crass.  I'm not saying they all are, but the ones I have met certainly aren't on my Christmas card list.

If you do get into a situation where you think someone is discriminating don't let it get you down and don't show anger.  Just smile and wish them a good day. The idiom "Kill them with kindness" comes to mind.

Don't bother doing follow up calls either.  Drop in so they can tell you "Yes" or  "No" to your face.  That's what I have done in the past.  I wanted one job really bad, so I went in once a week until they said "Yes".

they have no right to discriminate anyone else since only the VNmese has the right to do that, add the fact that this is their country. Well some species are really greedy eh? hope this things have changed much!!

Some of the schools that practice the policy have international accreditation with groups like CIS and IB.  One of the supposed stipulations to maintain the membership/accreditation is that the school comply with international business standards.  Racial profiling/discrimination is generally considered to be against those standards.  Do you see where I'm going with this??
