Moving to SL with medical condition and a cat

My name is Vanessa, I’m 38 years old and from Germany. I’m planning to spend ~6 months in Sri Lanka while working remotely.

I’m really excited about this opportunity, but I have a few questions and would greatly appreciate your advice and experiences:

1. Chronic illness & medical care:

I have a chronic condition and depend on reliable medical care.

• How is the healthcare situation, maybe anyone here with rheumatic condition for an exchange?

• Are there any recommended private clinics or doctors?

• What are your experiences with private health insurance for a temporary stay?

2. Bringing my cat:

I would like to bring my cat with me.

• Does anyone have experience importing a pet into Sri Lanka?

• How complicated is the process (vaccinations, quarantine, paperwork)?

3. Accommodation in or around Arugam Bay:

I’m looking for a quiet place to stay in the Arugam Bay area (it doesn’t have to be central).

4. Visa as a digital nomad or prolongation of tourist visa - Which visa would you recommend?
