Dear Priscilla,
As a contribution I would like to add some comments.
Let's start with bread:
After the %100 price increase, 1 bread of 50 gram costs 1 SDG (Sudanese Pound, Cuneyh)
In general, you give 10 SDG and in exchange you receive 10 breads (500 gram). You must bring your own bag for collecting the breads. Most of the bakers' don't give bags...
These breads are like small French Baguet breads.
I prefer to buy Ethiopian round bread. Made with whole grain
Flat rents:
At Omdurman you can find a clean 2-3 bedrooms, 2 bathroom, kitchen, 2-3 living room houses. At around 300 USD per month. Furnished with basic needs.
If you prefer Khartoum to stay, same apartment will cost you approximately 550-600 USD.
You can also find triplex or doublex villas starting from 1200 USD...
You will get what you will pay... My opinion is to look as much as possible to all the propositions before to rent a house.
1 kg of boneless lamb meat is about 180 SDG.
1 liter of gasoil is 6.17 SDG
one watermelon of 7-8 kg is 30 SDG
Those days, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, bananas... all 1 kg is 10 SDG.
DENTIST:
You can find very clean, hygienic and English spoken dentists around RIYAD
General Consultation 200 SDG
Extraction of one teeth 600-1000 SDG
Full removable prosthesis costs only 8.000 SDG (We found this price very cheap and afraid of the result. But when we see the result, it was extraordinary!
IF ANY FRIENDS WANTS TO KNOW A SPECIFIC PRICE. THEY CAN DIRECTLY WRITE ME!
Best Regards,
Ergun
