Old clichés die hard, as the saying goes... and living in the Seychelles can generate lots of misconceptions in the eyes of the people.

What are the most common misconceptions about the expat lifestyle in the Seychelles?

What are the most common clichés about life in the Seychelles in general?

Did you have a biased view of the country before moving there? What is you view now?

Before our move here, I did extensive research on the internet and most of it proved to be lies. Stories of other expats were biased too.
The biggest misconception being that there was no good chocolate or red meat or alcohol on the island. And that toilet paper and washing powder could run out any moment and not be imported for months. And that local people walking in the road after work caused traffic congestion.
Hahahahaha!
It is now six years later and the quality and availability of consumables became better and better and the traffic congestion got worse (no pedestrians at fault...just too many cars)
