Keeping fit in the Netherlands

Hello everyone,

Keeping fit during your time in the Netherlands is of utmost importance. How about sharing with us and your fellow expats how you keep healthy in your host country?

What are your daily health hacks in the Netherlands?

Do you exercise regularly? What is your go-to sport?

Do you manage to keep your diet healthy and balanced? How easy is it to maintain a balanced diet in the Netherlands? Are you able to find organic products easily?

Are there national or local incentives to foster a healthy lifestyle: sensitisation campaigns, sports infrastructure etc. ?

How much of your monthly budget is dedicated to keeping fit?

Please share your experience,

Priscilla

Hi,

With the weather here especially during the colder months it can be a challenge. I have found that walking as much as possible and maintaining a healthy balanced diet works wonders. It took me a few months to find a routine that works for me. I walk 8kms, 2 days a week and exercise for 20 minutes a day. That is 10 mins of stair climbing on resistance level 10 and a 10 minute weight and squats routine. I also follow the potato diet at least 3 days a week and this has also helped me immensely...
