Hi all,

Newbie on the Papua New Guinea forum? Don't know how to start?

This thread is for you ;)

We invite you to introduce yourself on this topic, to share with us your expat story if you are already living in the country, or to tell us more on your expat projects in Papua New Guinea if you are planning to move there.

It will enable us to help you better but above all to wish you a warm welcome.

Welcome on board!

Hi
My husband got a job offer in Papua New Guimea. We are both very excited and unsure at the same time. We don't know much about PNG. We have two teenage kids. Will they be okay there? Can I continue with homeschooling? Will they be happy and be able to make friends? Will they have things to do to keep themselves busy? Sorry. I know it's a lot of questions....
Regards
Jols

Jols--
We moved to Port Moresby a year ago and are originally from Houston, Texas USA.  Although our four teenage sons attend boarding secondary school in Cairns at St. Augustine's College, I can put you in contact with a family living here in Port Moresby that home school their children.  They would be able to answer your questions regarding friends and activities for your teenagers.  Our four teenage boys are enjoying boarding school in Cairns.

Hello everyone! Just joined the forum. Need some help from you guys working for quite some time there in PNG. You see, I got a job offer to work as a duty manager in a boutique hotel in Wewak. I am being offered a gross annual salary of 55K, with free accommodation, transportation, and meals. My questions are, how much is the income tax for that and how safe is it to work in Wewak? Thanks for any replies.

Hi and welcome to the forum

I suggest you read through the posts on this section of the forum for the information.

Thanks Julien,

Yes, I am new to the forum!  Still trying to work my way around it.

My business partner ( she is Japanese) and I are just waiting for our work visa's to be issued.  We are currently in Australia, and will be moving to Port Moresby.  We have just registered our new Company and will be working from Port Moresby.

We have been going and coming on tourist visa's. So far we have been 3 times.  My business partner is Japanese and she gets a 2 month visa on arrival, and I only get 1 month?! I dont get it!

Any way I happy to have found the forum and will be asking lots of questions, before we move there before Xmas!

Any tips are most welcome!

PNG taxation chart is available online, you can check with that. But cost of living in PNG is too higher than anywhere else i have seen.

Hi everyone.

I have been working in PNG for more than 1 year and new to the forum.
