Question about marriage and reapplying for a brazilian passport

Hi, my wife came to Canada and we got married here. She has applied and received her Permanent Residence Card here. She has to reapply for her expired Brazilian Passport. Do we have to register the marriage in Brazil before she does this, do we put she is single and register it later? What are our options, Dale

Dale, you have to register the marriage in Canada first at the consulate in the province where you got married. Then and only then you can apply, but I suggest that when you go to the consulate. They should be able to answer that part about the passport. Good luck

Ok I understand that but she has to renew her passport. Is it best to say shes now married,(she did not change her name yet) or should we still say she is single. Does that make a difference on her passport application>
