Tips and advice to thrive in Cameroon

How long does it take to feel at home? Would you say it is an easy process?

Ease of adjusting depends on your cultural  background. If you are used to cutting deals and playing loose with rules, you will feel right at home right away in Cameroon, provided that you understand that discretion is a must in any deal or bending of rule. Trust must be earned, like anywhere on earth. Avoid being too demanding on the application of the rule of law, show interest and understanding of other's sometimes bizarre ways, be easy going and you will make a lot of friends very fast.
Don't be naive, VERIFY BEFORE YOU TRUST. There are scores of scammers, but not more violence than anywhere else in the west. Actually people are rather friendlier, but economic deprivation makes scams more prevalent.
