Double taxation for American expatriates

Hello, I am an American expatriate. Please sign my petition to change the current tax system from a citizenship based taxation to a resident based taxation so that the 8.7 million expatriates can afford to live and raise a family outside the USA.

The US is the only country in the world that taxes its citizens who are working and living abroad. This puts American workers at a severe disadvantage to workers from other countries.

FATCA and FBAR are having dramatic negative impacts on all Americans living abroad.

Please give us your support.

Thank you and please click on the link below to go to the petition. Feel free to share it and let's do our best to be heard!

My understanding is this only applies if the country one resides in doesn't have a treaty with the U.S. It used to apply in the CZ Republic, but they signed one apprx 5 years ago. Is this correct?

Who'd have thought that 239 years later, nearly 3% of the US population would financially benefit from staying with the Empire, as opposed to living in the (allegedly) richest and most powerful country on the planet ... Life's not fair, get used to it.

Hi timoday1
Your petition is only one of hundreds of efforts to get the US to understand the plight of US Expats.  These, unfortunately, are failing and we are seeing the rise of US-as-dictator.  They will pay when China's currency exchange bank moves ahead.

The Senate Finance Committee has (after +++++ submissions last spring) basically brushed us aside.

There was a court case in the US (brought by Republicans Overseas) this month to force an injunction against FATCA information to the IRS which, unfortunately, failed (SEE:  https://adcsovereignty.wordpress.com/20 … m-lawsuit/).  A similar attempt in Canada also failed (SEE:  Isaacbrocksociety.ca and http://www.adcs-adsc.ca/).

Both in Canada and the US there will be in 2016 a constitutional challenge about FATCA; who knows if these will make any difference.
Banking and taxation for US expats is going to become more and more complex and onerous.  Many are considering renunciation despite the extraordinary fee of $2,350 (US) to do so.
