A year ago we retired here to Mayo and love it. My question is is there anywhere I can learn Irish. I don't want to take exams etc. but simply learn conversational Irish. Any ideas?

Maybe you could envisage language exchange (therefore you should insert an ad in Ireland's Classifieds -> Language exchange).

In Dublin, in some public library (in the Ilac Center for example)they have free methods, books and CD to learn Irish (and other languages).
I don't know about Mayo, but it might be worthing to have a look in a public library to get some information.
