Working as a freelancer

I may be working as a freelancer in malta this summer for about 2 months.
i am based with my business in germany, where i pay all my taxes, health insurance (valid also abroad)  and social security.
do i also have to pay taxes and social security in malta as a germany based freelancer?
are employers in malta paying freelancers the same gross wages as they do with their employees, but without reducing it by taxes etc?
do i need a maltese social security number, and do i need an id card even my residence will still be in germany?
i may need a car. Any sugestions about long term rentals for example?
Same is with renting a small apartment for a single person. Would like to reside in or near sliema and think about a rent of 300 euros.
thanks in advance for your kind answers, info and help.

Hi AxMedic,

as you are only planning on being in Malta for two months you will still be in the 'tourist' category.

What is your freelance work?

But, plan on paying 'tourist' prices for an appartment next summer. You will have to pay a lot more than 300 € for an appartment in Sliema . Count yourself lucky if you find something for 300 € per week !

Cheers
Ricky
