Moving to Malta

We are new members to the forum and trying to find our feet! We already know Malta well as we spend at least 2 times of the year in our flat. We have Maltese family living on the island which is great but we find that with regards to moving there is not much help coming from them. Our intention is to spend more and more time in Malta and eventually retire completely on this beautiful island. As always it is difficult to get the right answers to all the questions we have with regard to settling in Malta so I guess expats who have experienced the ins and out of moving, getting workman etc would be of great help.
At the moment we are looking for someone who could carry out remedial works to a bedroom with an ensuite e.g. painting, tiling, minor plumbing, updating a building wardrobe.
