studying french in marseille

my son, 23 is planning on spending a month studying French in France this summer. Would Marseille be a good place to do this for a young person? Is there student housing like the Cité Universitaire in Paris where one can live in the summer' (I think he doesn't want to live with a family!) He is thinking of Marseille, Nice or Paris. Does anyone have any recommendations? thanks! janine

Hi, is your son a student ? will he learn french by himself ? I think you should ask the OFFICIE DU TOURISME, you could have the YMCA adress. But one month is quite short to learn french, specially in Marseille ;-) !!

hi,

i am a south african living in marseille and i would advise your son to rather choose aix-en-provence. it is abt 30 mins away from marseille but it is a student town with universities that offer summer french courses. also, there are lots of foreigners and a young crowd so it's much more fun for a student.
