Used Car Registration Questions

AaronAardvark

Can someone help me with these questions?

1.  Is there any age limitations in registering a car (not driver's license)?

2.  Is it difficult to register a car that is purchased and is not currently registered?

3.  How to get basic car insurance?  I am confused, someone posted a video saying to not worry about it since it is included with the registration??????

I know a litle.
1.  I heared of some politicians wanting to MAKE a max at 15 years, but I don't believe it has been approved.
There was some other decisions related to vehicöes adding costs for vehicle owners, but Duterte overruled it. He said no to such extra costs will be now during people struggle because of covid.

2. Isn't everything hard in Phils?   :)
But possible if you get the vehicle test approved.

3.  I haven't checked that yet,  have no idea.

Sorry, I meant age of the owner not the car.

Oh.   There are some odd rules in Phils, but I suppouse no such, which would be very odd   :)

But better if you can register your vehicle at some reliable Filipino, because when foreigner is registered as owner when ssomeone else drive if it become a traffic accident, then it's risk the foreigner have to pay even if it the accident was the fault of an other one hiting your vehicle.
(That's a reason I think of not bother to get any Phil drivers licence myself although I can get one rather easy by transforming the licence I have, which allow me to drive everything except big busses and having a wagion behind a big lorry.)

Aaron,
I purchased a used vehicle several years ago and the dealer handled the registration requirements. It is fairly complex with engine number tracing, etc being required. Then on re-registration I let my insurance broker do it for me as it is a service they offer (going to LTO). I would just need to do the emissions check first.

It was in my name until a couple years ago when I decided, for liability reasons, to put it in the name of my GF, on the advice of my broker. I also have always purchased the highest insurance limits available in case I hit someone crossing the road or doing other crazy things. Or a kid. But even the high limits are quite low in the Philippines, maybe $25K or $50K USD. I forget. The basic insurance is hardly anything and I would not rely on that.

PM me if you want the name of my insurance broker. She is very helpful and can give you some advice. They also helped me more recently when I bought another car, as it was being sold by an intermediary (as usual, lol), and the title had not been signed off properly. They are good to me but I also spend $300/yr on insurance every year so there is some loyalty.

No age limit that I am aware.

Thanks, if I do decide to buy a car, it will be a used car and not sold by a dealer.  It would be a private party sale.
