Ecuadorians and ex-pats beware: of these electronics ads popping up all over the internet "Flying off the shelves in Ecuador" and "only can be purchased online", and "free shipping"
1.) there are no shelves "online",
2.) electronics will be held by customs, if you live in Guayaquil that means a short trip to customs (else where in Ecuador longer, and Quito much longer) to pay what they decide as an import fee, and
3.) "free shipping", not so fast, you will have to pay what customs decides you should.

You mean I should be wary of things I read online? Next you'll be telling me that Nigerian Prince I gave my bank account details to isn't going to deposit $200 million and that "natural" cream I bought to enlarge my *%^* isn't going to work as well!
