I have looked at several places but noticed housing is cheaper in Santa Rita Heights.

Hello,
I use to live in Corozal, Belize back in the 1990s.  The past few years my wife and I have considered moving back since we are retired.  Looking for housing, I have noticed houses are very expensive.  I did notice in Santa Rita Heights houses are cheaper.  I am wondering if that is a good area for expats?  We are looking for two bedrooms two baths as we will have visitors occasionally.  We just want to enjoy the laid back life style.  Any info about the best place to live will be greatly appreciated.  We don't want to go over $90,000.

Thank you kindly,
Ricky Johnson

I was hoping someone in the Corozal area would respond to you, and they still might. I am not familiar with the specific area, so I really can't help you with that. Although the geography changes between areas, the people always seem to be friendly and accommodating. I didn't see much of a price difference between areas, of course, depending on what you are looking for.  We didn't want to be in the flatlands, so we chose elsewhere.

I live in Corozal district but I’m not familiar enough with that neighborhood to recommend or not. I’d suggest checking out the Facebook group called Corozal Living. You’re more likely to get more knowledgeable feedback.

Hopkins can now be considered for lower cost housing, still expensive on the beach, but areas on the Hopkins road are now being developed. including a leading brand filling station.  there is very little that can not be bought in Hopkins village shops.  New Mennonite hardwood cabanas can be very good value,  interior to your own design..    the new road has transformed the area.
