Raising kids in Italy

Hello everyone,

How is raising kids in Italy different from raising kids in your home country?

What are the activities that your kids seem to enjoy the most in Italy?

Do you feel that the country is "family-friendly"?

Do you recommend Italy as a good place to raise kids? Why or why not?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

We left the UK when our son was 6 and the main reason was to raise him in a better place. We lived in a beautiful town in Somerset near Bath but already there were social problems with the school. Once our son came home with a black eye and the teachers said nothing.

We've been in Italy 15 years now and have never looked back. Our son has completed school and is a licenced estate agent, we work together. We had very few problems with the school. I can count on one hand the issues we had. One time he was being bullied by a north African boy that was being mistreated in his own home so the teachers got all the parents in the school and sat the mother in the middle for her to explain herself. Imagine that happening in the UK?!! There they take sides with the bully..  The problem was stopped.

Italians love children and even now he's 21 he still is admired for working hard and he there's no trouble from anyone.

It was our main reason for leaving the UK and after all these years we are still convinced it was the right thing to do.  Italy is a great place to raise children.

Absolutely not!!!!

Care to elaborate!!

Well for now I don't have a kid but I think Italy is a great country to raise kids. This is because there is some form of exposure and also special relationship and care that is given to kids from elementary to secondary is a condussive environment. kids here have access to fun even at school which is another form of learning. I discover that there is a one -one relationship between teachers and students. Special importance is laid on elementary education and when kids get to a certain level, they specialise on their area of expertise. This act as a spring board to having an indicative  society.

Sorry it makes kids to be inovative .

I wish I had been brought up in Italy Its such a social country Children are the thread in the fabric that makes Italy what Italian life is all about . Life revolves around them as it should be
