How to make friends in the Vanuatu

We have been talking about loneliness when you are abroad, let's now talk about how to make friends (locals and other expats) when you're living in the Vanuatu :top:

Which are your best tips to meet people and to make friends in the Vanuatu??

Thanks in advance for your participation

Where does one start?  I have two children and my husband will be working.  I am keen to make friends, volunteer my skills and hopefully find some work.  Any suggstions?

I guess it will be as difficult as moving anywhere else. Once we move there permantly I will volunteer at the hospital. We lived in Vila for 4 months last year, and found all the ex-pats to be very friendly. The Grand (aka Sebel) apparently have a happy hour Wednesday and Friday nights for tourists and ex-pats. We haven't been yet, but someone said it was a great place for net working, I assume that means meeting new people as well. There is a ladies group who meet for lunch (I'm not sure how often) Of course, one has to be invited :-) :-) to share this with other ex-pat women.
Hope you aren't too lonely???

Thank you for your prompt reply!  Am reassured to know there are ways to meet other ex-pats and I'll def make the effort to do so.  I am a Pyschologist specialising in children with disabilities (mainly autism) so am keen to look at ways of using my skills where they may be needed - in a volunteer capacity.  My husband's job hasn't been confirmed as yet but we're feeling positive.  Kids will go to the PVIS (they are 7 and9)- does anyone have any feedback in regards to how well their children settled in, made friends etc?  My kids are "sports mad" (typical little kiwis!) so was wondering what was offered?

Hi having just arrived in Vanuatu would leave to see some reponses. Im keen to make lots of new friends. I would love to know what sort of stuff there is to do here. Eg sporting stuff - gym, yoga, dancing
, where to go for a drink where locals go, art classes. Any ideas?
