Hi All

we have an opportunity to spend a year in Nassau. We are a family with two children aged 10 (Year 6 from September) and 12 (Year 8 from Sept). We are trying to find out any information about schools both public and private and would appreciate any help or comments anybody has. We are trying to find out quickly to help us make our decision.

Many thanks

Rere

There are many public and private schools in the Bahamas.  The Public Schools which are notable are Oakes Field Primary and Cleveland Eneas.  Ihave heard that they are very good using the A Beka Primary School.  My nephews attend Oakes Field Primary and they are over 3 point out of 4 point students.  Oakes Field is centrally located and there have been a few other expat students attending.  I do not know as much about Cleveland Eneas.  But is is in the South.  the private schools of great mention are the Catholic ones.  They are all very good but very expensive.  Our Ladies Catholic http://ourlady.cec.edu.bs/ is off East Street and somewhat centrally located.  Kingsway Academy http://www.kingswayacademy.com/ is also very good.  You can also try St. Andrew's, however this will really depend the budget.  This school is the best all the way up to 12th grade and it also prepares the students for A levels or first two years of college.

I don't know if that was sufficient for you but if you have any more questions as or check out the websites.  Good luck.
