Hi there!
i am renewing my China VISA and my passport is currently with the china government.
i need to know if there is any possible way for me to travel from Beijing to Shanghai when my passport is being retain. They will only issue a yellow receipt for acknowledging that my passport is with them. However, its up to the train station and airline whether i can travel or not.
Anyone has similar problem before?

Make your train booking from train booking office, show then copy of your passport, You will be able to get the ticket. How ever during your journey if someone asks you for passport again show them copy, if they ask you you can show them the Yellow Receipt for Visa Extension.
