First time in Ghana - living costs and more

Hello,

I am in the lucky position to travel to Ghana next Wednesday for six weeks. I am going to conduct research for my final year project in St Patrick's Hospital in Offinso Maase. Hopefully in a later stage of my academic career I can move to Ghana for a longer period.

Now, I just wanted to gain a rough idea about the in country costs. I'll be living with a host family, which will provide food as well. Then I am in need of an interpreter, which a family member or staff of the hospital will be willing to do.

Here are my calculations for six weeks:

800 Cedi for accommodation/lodging
300 Cedi for interpreter
3350 Cedi to spend (which should cover any petrol/driver/shopping and other costs).

Are my calculations feasible or too much/little?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

Cheers,
Michelluu

I think you should manage on that if you are living out of Accra as life is much simpler. Enjoy your stay.

pretty cool, since the once you will be living with will provide food, you can live in those places
