Driving license in Suriname

Hi all,

Can a foreigner take the driving test in Suriname?

What are the formalities to get a driver's licence in Suriname?

Do you need special or extra documents being an expatriate?

How much does it cost?

Thank you for participating ;).

Hi,

If you are staying for a long time, you need to apply to get a permission to drive in Suriname.  You need to pay SRD150, at a government office (CBB) and then you go with the receipt to the police in New Haven, close to town with a copy of your licence from your country, copy of your passport (first page and the page showing your permit to stay), and then you pay SRD5, and collect the permission after 5 working days.  The permission is valid for 1 year, to renew you pay SRD100.

Thank you for your help marggiechibwebeel! :)
