Opening a bank account in the Philippines

Hi all,

is it difficult for expats to open a bank account in the Philippines ?

Which documents are required to open a bank account in the Philippines ?

How long does it take to open it ?

Is there any restriction for expats regarding the services (loans for instance)  ?

Which bank would you recommend ?

Thanks in advance for your participation,

Julien

go to bpiexpressonline.com and follow instructions from there. locate a local remittance center in your area where you can sign their signature cards. where do you intend to stay here in the PHilippines? this will help you find out which branch to open an account to.
Bring your money here through bpi, and invest some of your money into bpi family savings bank. there are two types of bpi, bpi family savings bank where you get higher returns on your time deposit to be held up to 5 years, but you get monthly income, tax free.
the other one, bank of the philippine islands ( related bank) is more for business.
how long it takes will depend on how soon you finish the requirements. it might take about two or more weeks to process.
welcome to the Philippines, it is rare that you find a quick processing of documents!

for those who are already here in the Philippines.
Bring your passport and visa. need 2 1x1 id pictures.
if you are currently working here, it will be good to get a document from your work stating that you are working with them.
LOAN: if you have money in the bank you can apply for a loan called back to back loan.

Hope that helps!
